Raphaël Pitti is a professor of emergency medicine, known for his multiple humanitarian actions and his humanist commitments against injustice. His expertise in the training of general practitioners and military doctors is well known, particularly in the practice of "triage" of patients, where "time is of the essence and limited means are essential parameters". Beyond the technical aspect of this practice, he will question its ethical stakes, as well as the economic and political problems known under the expression "lifeboat ethics". On the occasion of this conference, Raphaël Pitti will share with us his own experience of the clinical practice of triage, at the very beginning of the Covid-19 coronavirus crisis at the Regional Hospital Center of Metz, but also in Syria during wartime, and currently on the field of the war in Ukraine.
